Celebrating with the other nominees, finalists and winners at the Association of Green Funeral Directors ‘Good Funeral Awards 2024’ at the beautiful Eden Project in Cornwall.
On Saturday 14th September, we were delighted to join friends, colleagues and fellow finalists from across the sector for the AGFD Good Funeral Awards 2024. Held at the beautiful Eden Project in Cornwall, the awards recognise and celebrate the achievements, dedication and hard work of so many in a wide range of fields.
The sun shone as we arrived for a magical evening inside the beautiful domes, surrounded by exotic plants, sculptures and birdsong. It was an evening to remember.
About the Association of Green Funeral Directors
Established in 2009, the Association of Green Funeral Directors (AGFD) is a non-profit making organisation which aims to bring natural, green and eco-friendly funerals into the mainstream. Their annual Good Funeral Awards recognise and celebrate excellence in the funeral sector.
More About The Good Funeral Awards
The AGFD Good Funeral Awards are open to all. There are 18 categories covering different sectors within the industry. Companies or individuals can be nominated by others in the sector or by members of the general public. The finalists and winners are selected by an independent panel of judges based on the strength of the nominations and a range of other criteria. The awards are presented at an annual ceremony held at a different venue each year, with an exhibition taking place every other year.
The Programme for the Evening
Our host for the evening, John Adams, expertly guided proceedings and the awards presentations. John is a past president of the NAFD, a campaigner for bereavement education within schools, and an author and podcast host.
The presentations were made during a truly delicious dinner and then followed by dancing until gone midnight. Walking through the gardens in the still of the night, with the dome glowing, was a magical experience.
During the evening, whiteballoon was honoured and delighted to win ‘Best Funeral Support’ and we would like to say a huge thank you to all the people who nominated us and to the wonderful people and businesses that we have met and worked with over the past few years. We couldn’t have done it without you.
A special thank you also goes to the ‘behind the scenes’ whiteballoon team, web developer Mark Roper and his colleagues at F2B for their hard work and dedication over the past few years, and to digital and marketing consultant Camilla Holbrook at Holbrook Digital for her expert help and advice.
