Bereavement Support in the Work Environment

Whether you are a colleague of someone who is grieving, or have experienced your own loss, navigating bereavement in the work environment can be stressful and confusing. Dr Lucy Hone, best-selling author and thought leader in the field of Resilience Psychology, and Faith Holloway, who leads the Compassionate Employers programme at Hospice UK, had some really interesting and informative words of advice that we would like to share here.

Following the tragic death of her lovely daughter Abi, Lucy drew on her many years of experience and expertise in the field of Resilience Psychology and applied it to grief and bereavement. Here she tells us how and why she believes it is so important to acknowledge the importance of resilience following a loss.

Faith’s talked about how important it is for all organisations to have a clearly written, well thought-out and accessible bereavement policy. She encourages companies to speak with a human voice and with empathy and compassion.
