Ann Bates Ceramics
Ann has been working with clay for over twenty five years using the traditional hand building method of coiling to create unique vessel forms. Latterly, personal circumstances have led her to begin making funerary urns after the unexpected death of her partner, John. In the days after the funeral Ann looked at the choice of urns available and felt disappointed by their lack of individuality. Determined to address this she began designing and creating her own unique funerary urns.
Ann uses a robust stoneware clay to build the urns which are fired to 1250C ensuring suitability for indoor or outdoor locations. Ann offers the option for clients to help design an urn for their loved one, perhaps reflecting their character or interests. Some bereaved people have found this to be a helpful and comforting experience at a most difficult time.
