The Afterparty

The Afterparty offers a unique, bespoke service that removes the stress from organising a funeral or memorial. We can arrange everything from venues, flowers and orders of service to catering, decoration and music, helping you create the perfect send-off for your loved one. We can also liaise with clergy, celebrants and funeral directors. We recognise that the death of a family member or friend, even when expected, can be acutely stressful – we are here to guide you through this challenging time with compassion and professionalism, allowing you to focus on your emotional well-being and that of your family.

Rosie Mackintosh has over 20 years of experience as an event organiser, and having worked with some of the top event companies in UK has unique knowledge of venues and suppliers nationwide.

Shoonagh Hubble has had a career working in the media and education and is an experienced funeral celebrant. Whilst she is accredited with Humanists UK, she has also organised a number of funerals with religious elements.

Having both lost close family members, we recognise the value of creating a great funeral in helping to process the death of a loved one. We feel that a successful funeral or memorial needs to meet the following three criteria:

Attendees should feel better when they leave than when they arrive
Details such as music and readings would elicit knowing nods and smiles
The person would have loved to have been there!

In the past, we have both attended funerals which have not met these criteria, and have found that our sense of loss has therefore been compounded and our ability to process that person’s death has been compromised. An Afterparty funeral does the opposite, creating an event that captures the essence of the person, celebrating their life and providing structure and meaning to what friends and family are going through.
