With the End in Mind

With the End in Mind

A powerful and emotional book based on a lifetime’s clinical experience, ‘With the End in Mind: How to Live and Die Well’ by Kathryn Mannix offers calm, wise advice on how to face death, live fully, and find a model for hope in dark times.

Using stories gathered over forty plus years of experience in medicine and palliative care, Dr Mannix enables the reader to ‘experience’ and start to understand what happens when people are nearing the end of their lives. It shows the many and varied ways that people, both the dying and those walking alongside them, approach death and dying. Each chapter starts with pertinent observations and questions from Mannix about a particular area of end of life, which she then addresses with the help of these real-life experiences.

With useful guidance on subjects like ‘last words’ and ‘how to start conversations about dying’, this book is a wonderfully gentle and informative resource.
