Sympathy & Condolence Gifts

Sympathy & Condolence Gifts

Inspiration for Sympathy & Condolence Gifts

Whether you write a letter, send a message, flowers or a gift, it is lovely to let someone who is grieving know they are in your thoughts. Here are a few ideas.

Sympathy Cards & Poems

A sympathy card can be handmade, shop bought, or ordered online with a personal message and sent directly to the recipient. You can get some lovely packs of condolence cards that can be kept safely for when they are needed.

Poems have a wonderful way of providing comfort and can help us to express the words we wish to say. A poem can be handwritten and included with a letter or you can get little booklets of bereavement poems.

Homemade Cooking and Frozen Food Deliveries

When it can be hard to get through the day, let alone shop for food and cook, a delivery of handmade suppers can be a welcome gift. Pre-prepared frozen food can be useful for stocking up the freezer for visitors and for last-minute meals.

There are a number of national companies that deliver pre-prepared frozen food, or a local caterer can prepare and deliver meals to pop in the freezer.

Condolence Gift Boxes

Gift boxes tend to come with a selection of comforting items like teas, biscuits, scented candles, or relaxing oils, and can be a lovely way to say ‘I am thinking of you’. You can usually select which items are included and they can be sent with a short message or a personalised letter.

Inspiration for Nature Inspired Sympathy Gifts

Flowers, Plants & Memorial Trees

Flowers, a plant or a tree, can make a thoughtful gift following a bereavement. Flowers can lift spirits and brighten up a room, whilst trees symbolise the continuity of nature and can provide a living memorial in memory of a loved one.

For further information, please go to Memorial Trees, Plants & Seeds and Sympathy Flowers and Plants.

Memorial Benches and Chairs

Garden memorial benches can be handcrafted from beautiful woods such as oak, teak and mahogany. They can be engraved with a name, date or favourite quote and can provide a space for remembrance and reflection.
