Cradle to Grave Willow Coffins

We are a small, family run company and have built up our business over the last 20 years. Our willow caskets, Viking ship ash urns and a whole array of baskets are made using traditional, age-old weaving skills and methods.

We grow and harvest our own willow and weave our products in a workshop on our land here in Dorset.  We are 100% off-grid and all of our products are made with natural materials, either grown here or locally sourced.

Coffins can be ordered through our website.  We need about 3 days’ notice and can deliver anywhere in the UK.

We understand that saying goodbye to a loved one can be difficult, so each bespoke casket is lovingly weaved with the utmost care and skill.  We are passionate about what we do.  To find out more, please visit our website.

Bellacouche

Bellacouche - meaning beautiful resting place - offers a range of 'soft' coffins, shrouds and urns for burial and cremation. Inspired by the 1666 law of burial in wool, the concept is re-imagined to suit contemporary cultural and environmental sensitivities. Thick layers of pure British wool felt, either as a simple papoose-like shroud or combined with a choice of bearing. Hand made in my Dartmoor workshop, orders are completed swiftly and sensitively for delivery anywhere in mainland UK. I'm happy to work direct or through your funeral director.

Well Urned Rest

Well Urned Rest offers a range of biodegradable urns for cremation ashes, suitable for natural burial grounds yet decorative enough to retain in the home. Each urn is individually made to order in handmade wool felt incorporating silk, bamboo or other natural fibres, and new designs will soon be available in cotton or linen, suitable for vegan purchasers.

All include an inner pouch. Postage for the UK mainland is free and a small additional gift can be chosen to accompany your purchase. While my ethos is to create only biodegradable designs, customers’ own fabrics or trims can be incorporated if the urn is not destined for a natural burial ground. Smaller urns are also available for pets. If you can think of choosing an urn as a way to celebrate a life - whether to keep at home or for burial - I hope my urns will help ease your loss.

Ann Bates Ceramics

Ann has been working with clay for over twenty five years using the traditional hand building method of coiling to create unique vessel forms. Latterly, personal circumstances have led her to begin making funerary urns after the unexpected death of her partner, John. In the days after the funeral Ann looked at the choice of urns available and felt disappointed by their lack of individuality. Determined to address this she began designing and creating her own unique funerary urns. Ann uses a robust stoneware clay to build the urns which are fired to 1250C ensuring suitability for indoor or outdoor locations. Ann offers the option for clients to help design an urn for their loved one, perhaps reflecting their character or interests. Some bereaved people have found this to be a helpful and comforting experience at a most difficult time.
